Become a Volunteer
Bridgetown State Emergency Service are always on the lookout for new volunteers. If you are interested in meeting new people, learning new skills and supporting your local community or are looking to apply existing skills and knowledge in a challenging new environment then we would love to hear from you!
Volunteering for the SES can be the most rewarding experience, knowing that the skills and training you’ve acquired can be used to help save someone’s life or assist them during their time of need.

Who Can Apply?
Anyone over the age of 18 who lives in the SES’s area can apply to join the SES.
Are there any fitness requirements?
No, there are a variety of roles in the SES for people of all abilities.
When is training?
Training is every Tuesday from 19:00 from the start of February to the end of November.
Can you volunteer while working on a shift roster?
Many people volunteer while working on shift, as long as 2 or more out of 4 trainings can be made consistently there is no problem with volunteering while working on shift.

SES Roles
KEY TASKS (will vary depending on role)
- Search for missing persons
- Storm Damage assistance.
- Vertical Rescue.
- Fire ground logistical support.

- Communications – operating radios.
- Water Bomber reloading.
- Flood Boat rescue.
- Community education and engagement.
KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Work in a team.
- Ability to work in adverse conditions and environments.
- Ability to follow procedures and instructions.
- Ability to complete standard SES training courses.
- Clear communication skills.
- Work well under pressure.
- Keen to learn life skills.
